· Collaborate with cross-functional teams comprised of electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers, including program management, to ensure successful project execution
· Generate manufacturable mechanical solutions from complex project requirements through innovative 3D conceptual designs
· Build sketch and production-level prototypes
· Develop cost-effective mechanical systems to evaluate conceptual designs
· Perform system design, testing, and documentation of results
· Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
· Work under the direction of Program Managers, Principal Investigators or Project Engineers
· Ensure that designs comply with relevant safety and industry regulations or applicable military standards
· Must wear appropriate PPE as needed and adhere to all safety standards
· Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office/lab/warehouse environment. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work with hands solving hands-on mechanical engineering tasks
· Must be a U.S. Citizen
· Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years’ experience in NDT hardware design and development engineering, as well as NDT hardware implementation process development
· Established technical expertise in multiple NDT processes such as ultrasonic, eddy current, x-ray, computed tomography, thermography, and radiography. Experience with Man portable equipment is required.
· Experience in the defense or aerospace industries
· Demonstrated ability to employ first principles in design concept development
· Demonstrated ability to take a design from concept to production
· Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced, autonomously driven atmosphere
· Deep knowledge of metal, plastic and composite material parameters used in NDT technologies
· Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
· Must possess technical and analytical thinking skills with a detail-oriented approach
· Demonstrated ability to self-manage assigned project tasks to meet schedule
· Ability to create quality, concise technical reports
· Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
· Demonstrated ability to learn new skills
· Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
· Working practical knowledge of AS9100
· Experience designing user-centered products
· Extensive experience in prototype and production manufacturing and fastening technologies, as well as assembly methods
· Experience designing electrical/mechanical systems to meet thermal, acoustic and vibration requirements
· MSME or equivalent degree with a published thesis
· Experience developing and executing test plans for MIL-STD requirements
· Level II or Level III qualified in a relevant inspection method
· Education: BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering with 8 years of relevant experience
· Experience with 3D CAD systems such as SolidWorks
· Experience with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and testing
· Hands-on mechanical assembly or fabrication experience
