Description

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will support project teams (research scientists, engineers, technicians) in the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of mechanical products and systems. You will work with engineers to ensure designs are functional, safe, and cost-effective, assist in troubleshooting issues, and help with prototypes and testing. This is a hands-on role and will not be limited to computer-aided design/analysis.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for modifying existing designs to improve performance, cost, or manufacturability

• Build prototypes or test systems based on the engineers' specifications

• Oversee or assist in the assembly and fabrication of mechanical parts or systems

• Assist in the testing and evaluation of mechanical systems, components, and materials

• Collect and analyze test data, documenting findings and providing recommendations for design improvements

• Assist engineers in creating detailed mechanical designs using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software

• Prepare drawings and technical documentation based on engineering specifications

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, quality control, and production staff

• Help manage project timelines, assist with documentation, and prepare progress reports

Required Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)

• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and systems

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials

• Proficiency in MS Excel and Project  

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines

• Must be able to bend and lift 30lbs.

• Must be able to perform tasks safely and follow OSHA safety standards

Desired Qualifications

Experience / Education

· Education: Associate's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field

· Experience: 1-3 years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related technical field
