• Collaborate with or lead cross-functional teams comprised of electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers, including program management, to ensure successful project execution
• Generate airworthy mechanical solutions from complex project requirements through innovative conceptual designs
• Assist engineers and scientists develop, build, sketch and produce production-level prototypes
• Conduct field support to DOD aviation maintenance organizations
• Develop cost-effective mechanical systems to evaluate conceptual designs
• Perform system/solution design, testing, and documentation of results
• Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
• Work under the direction of Program Managers, Principal Investigators or Project Engineers
• Ensure that designs comply with relevant safety and industry regulations, or applicable military standards
• Must wear appropriate PPE as needed and adhere to all safety standards
• Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office/lab/field environment. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work with hands solving hands-on mechanical engineering tasks. Must be able to work on or around military aircraft.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Experience in product design, airworthiness engineering and/or aviation maintenance.
• Experience in the defense or aerospace industries
• Demonstrated ability to interact with military maintenance personnel to include contractors, Soldiers, and civilians
• Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced, autonomously driven atmosphere
• Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and coordinate airworthy engineering solutions to complex material failures
• Experience with 3D CAD systems such as SolidWorks
• Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Understanding of Department of Defense airworthiness qualification process
• Must possess technical and analytical thinking skills with a detail-oriented approach
• Demonstrated ability to self-manage assigned project tasks to meet schedule
• Proven track record of technical writing ability (samples may be requested)
• Experience with developing military maintenance technical procedures
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
• Demonstrated ability to learn new skills
• Ability to travel 35% of the time
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
• Working practical knowledge of AS9100 or other quality management systems
• US Army Aviation Field Maintenance support experience
• Experience designing electrical/mechanical systems to meet thermal, acoustic and vibration requirements
• Experience developing and executing test plans for MIL-STD requirements
• Secret security clearance
• Education: BS or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with 8 years of relevant experience
