As a Systems Engineer in the R&D organization at UPT, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of research and development engineers and support staff to integrate design, documentation and testing tasks for product concepts.

Responsibilities:
Job Description: As a Systems Engineer in the R&D organization at UPT, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of research and development engineers and support staff to integrate design, documentation and testing tasks for product concepts. This person will also use their excellent creativity, engineering judgment and analysis skills to develop design requirements. Our systems engineer will be hands-on and self-motivated, with a high interest and curiosity mindset towards the latest engineering technology and rising trends to support design work. You will work under the direction of our Program Manager and senior engineering leadership team. Occasional travel from site to site (Charlotte/Locust/future UPT sites) with some travel within the US needed for kick-off meetings and visiting customer sites.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: BS in Engineering or Physics from an ABET or IOP accredited program
• Competent technical expertise
• Experience with the analysis, design, development, and implementation of new and/or existing systems/sub-systems.
• Ability to self-direct and independently solve problems
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
• Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Strong oral & written communication and presentation skills
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
• MUST BE A US CITIZEN
Desired Qualifications:
• BS or MS in Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• 2+ years in engineering or related technical field
• Experience with developing and testing prototypes
• Experience with the understanding of the technical framework for delivering material capabilities to the warfighter; per the DoD Instruction (DoDI)
• Familiarity with the NASA Systems Engineering Handbook
• Experience working with multidisciplinary and distributed teams
• Experience with performing reviews of customer specifications and requirements and develop designs to best support them
• Involvement with the development of new products
• Understanding of SBIR and military R&D processes
• Experience developing and executing test plans for MIL-STD requirements
Experience:
BS in Engineering or Physics from an ABET or IOP accredited program
