UPT is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Process Engineer to join our team. The Process Engineer will develop, evaluate, design, and optimize coating preparation and deposition processes and support continuous improvement of current production processes to ensure consistent quality

Responsibilities

• Analyze company processes and procedures to identify quality, productivity, and economic gaps in production

• Design, manage and implement process changes to improve safety, reduce cycle time, reduce waste and variability

• Learn the production techniques and processes for existing customers

• Develop tools and methods to aid in process data collection and analysis

• Development of standardized work instructions to ensure replicate process improvements

• Collaborate with R&D, Quality and Manufacturing to lead root cause investigations to identify and resolve coating non-conformances

• Identify and launch new coating and finishing equipment

• Identify and launch new products and coating technologies

• Must wear appropriate PPE as needed and adhere to all safety standards

• Research new technologies to improve throughput and yield

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company

Required Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

• Must possess technical analytical thinking and detail-oriented skill set

• Must be able to get a DOD Security Clearance

• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• History of quality system documentation

• Communicate clearly (written and oral)

• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently

• Strong Microsoft skills with Word and Excel

• Experience working with databases such as SQL

• Hands-on learner

• Proven leadership skills

• Understanding of process automation and controls

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemical or materials engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 2+ years of experience

• CAD design for in-house tooling

• Working practical knowledge of AS9100

• Knowledge of the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), Plasma enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) & Cathodic Arc Deposition (ARC-PVD) coating processes

• Experience programming Mitsubishi PLC logic

• Proven project management skills

Experience / Education

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or materials engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 4+ years of experience
